Hey Gang, Just purchased a 2010 Prius II. I chose the II because I couldn't justify the extra 1k for the stereo and bluetooth (I have a iPhone, and it does pretty much everything I could want as far as bluetooth). I chose to get a model without a sunroof on purpose, as I found they tend to rattle more often than not (especially in Subarus). I am running my stock OEM Goodyear tires at 38/36 to start off. I figure it will be a happy medium from whats on the placard and the pressures they hyper milers are running. I want to see how this works out for me. I actually put in 40/38, but the garage was 50 degrees - when things settle back into the 30s here in PA my pressures should be close to what I'm gunning for. Taking it for its first run to work tomorrow AM. 36 miles one way, back roads, some hills, and a final 8 mile run down a highway with a few stop lights. Any car I've ever driven gave me mileage very close to the highway estimate than the city - I'm hoping my mileage comes in as expected once my car breaks in. Anything this thing gives me should beat my Forester's 22 mpg. Well, just wanted to say hello. If there is anything I should know that would be helpful, please let me know !!! Glad to be here guys !! s1njin
Congrats on your new Prius. I'm also in PA and traded in a Subaru Forester for a Prius II. It's a nice change, and for the most part the AWD was unnecessary in PA (at least 95% of the time). I've had a few "winter rattles" in the dash and the view out the rear of the Forester was much better than the Prius, but otherwise I've got no real complaints. What color did you get? Did you find your Prius in PA?
Welcome! :welcome: I bought mine December 23rd and have put about 500 miles on it since then. My average mpg was 45 for the first 200 miles and for the last 300 miles it had been approximately 49, so far. I changed my driving habits and it has improved that much. Enjoy your Prius. Did you name it yet? T.
Its silver, and I picked it up in Hatfield. I hope the rattle gremlin stays away from me - its one thing that really peaves me. Hopefully if they show up, the dealer can swat them !
That's excellent, especially right out of the gate ! I am typing to you this early in the AM because I expect my commute to take slightly longer w/o the jack rabbit starts and stops. See? I'm changing already ! Haven't named her yet - perhaps I will after I've spent so quality time w/ her this week ..
I Have no idea if this is accurate or not, but I just completed my first trip to work. I reset my trip 'a' and the const read out on the hybrid drive display reads 61.5. I was careful about staying in the Eco zone, backing off the gas and coming back easy to use the battery, etc. Gas gauge still reads full ! It's 28 degrees out here but the car started outing my garage.
Welcome! We got ours less then a month ago. Here in always-cold Vermont I've averaged right around 40 so far on snow tires. Super happy with ours!
I have to say it again.....in cold weather...block off 100% of the bottom vents coming into the engine.....it will help your MPG even more.
