Newbie here: Just got a 2008. The Hybrid Battery Status indicator on the display is usually yellow. it will sometimes switch to blue. I assumed that yellow was the correct color but after reading some posts here it seems that they should be blue. Can't find any mention of this in the manual or on the forums. Which is right? What do the yellow bars mean? Thanks John
The color changes just show the level of charge. Green with a high charge, blue is the mid level and purple is low charge.
From what I understand from reading here, the Green bars are at the top, blue in the middle and Purple at the bottom. BUT, all of my bars will change to yellow. I'll try to take a photo. They are def. not green. John
Well when it's "yellow" is it at the top (7 and 8 bars) or is it in the middle (3, 4, 5 or 6 bars) or is it low (under 3 bars). And yes please count the bars when reporting SOC (state of charge) issues. It's more informative than just reporting color ( and even more so when your colors are different to those of everyone else. )
OK, so maybe they are Green. They look yellow on my screen. I think I get it now. When the level drops, ALL of the bars will change color, not just the ones in high, low, or middle SOC zones. Assuming I am correct, Thanks for the help.
Yeah that's correct. They all change color to give you a really easy indication of "low", "normal" and "high" state of charge. There are 8 bars in total. - If you drop down to 2 bars it's a lower than desirable and the display goes purple. - If it anywhere from 3 bars to 6 bars it's considered normal and stays blue. - If it's over 6 it's considered higher than normal and goes green. Normally the car will try to maintain the SOC at 6 bars, I assume it considers that level about optimal. The attachment shows the actual SOC versus the displayed bars.
