Maint light is on, halp!

    The "Maintanence required" light has come on on my 08 prius, what does this mean and how can i get it to go off?

    new to the car, not new to working on cars in general, but never dealt with a maint. req. light

    Car needs an oil change. The light comes on every 5,000 miles to notify you.

    Page 369 of your owner's manual will explain how to reset the light. Previous poster is correct, it's been since 5000 mi since last reset. David

    Read the 2008 Owner's Manual. It's full of stuff you need to know. If you don't have it, buy one from a dealer.
