I need your opinion Prius folk! I would love to close a deal on a Prius ASAP, but want to know if this is a good deal or not. White, 2008 Prius - base Model 45k miles. Originally bought in November '07. It was a rental vehicle. Clean carfax report... but no 'maintenance' records listed on the report. The dealer originally listed it at $17,988. They now dropped the price to $16888. I've so far got them down to $15900 + Tax, License, etc. Is this a good deal or should I hold out for lower? I personally can afford $15.9, but my biggest gripe is that it doesn't have an auxilary jack and I'd need to spend 300-600 to get one installed. It is near the end of the month, so I'm sure they want to get it sold... HELP!!!!! Oh - and if it helps... I can put up to $6000 down + about $2000 from my trade in.
I just bought my Silver Prius loaded for $16,500. So I would think you could get them lower, but I guess it depends on the area/market. Hope this helps!
Hm that's good to know. At least I have something to compare to. Was that out the door or plus tax and license?
Are you talking about the jack to lift the car up for tire changing, or a 12 volt electrical outlet in the cabin? You can get either of those for way under $300.
I'd suggest you look for a car that's at least package 2. It will have a better audio system including aux jack as well as many other features such as smart key, backup camera, and Vehicle Stability Control as standard equipment. Shopping used this shouldn't add much to the price, since new this was only a $575 upgrade from the least expensive package 1.
Saw your post, and made me think of this car. I watch the ads around here, and thought this was a decent deal. 2009 Toyota Prius 5D Sedan Touring
That is a pretty good price... only thing is that it's in Tempe, AZ. Being that I'm in LA (what seems like the prius capital of the world), it's much harder to find a price like that. Oh - so to update. I held out. And ultimately I think I'll pass on this. There are still dealerships with a few 2010's in stock that I'm going to keep an eye out on. Let's see how badly they want to get those off their lot. Thanks for the input, everyone
smart move. if you can afford 20K, you may soon be able to afford a 2010 genIII pkg.2. check with diane whitmire here at pc.
