Sorry to go OT - but I did my culinary internship at Pinehurst - beautiful place that is carry on.... OP: Best wishes on your new 2011 V!!!!!
Hello all. I just want to take a moment to thank everyone here at Prius Chat for all there help with my questions. I have placed my order for my new 2011 Prius 5dr 5AT with Matts today in Blue Ribbon with Dark Gray leather seat trim. It could take up to 120 days for delivery but it also me be shorter. I would also like to ask if anyone knows the ship names that are coming into port on the East coast (North Carolina) or the manifest to see if one is on board to try to get it redirected for me and my dealer. (Can the dealer do this?)
Interesting. This is the first I've heard of this abbreviation (5AT) used this way. On other car boards, 5AT would be 5-speed automatic transmission and 5MT would be a 5-speed manual. Do you really want want to wait THAT long? You might be able to get what you want sooner or maybe with a 2nd or 3rd choice of color by taking from dealer stock or doing a dealer trade. When I put my name on the waiting list in late 2005 (when no dealers had any in stock and people had to wait months for Priuses), I didn't have to wait that long. IIRC, I waited ~2 months. The dealer didn't "order" my choice either. He'd take down the package we want and a priority list of preferred colors and would match up what was coming in w/his waiting list.
FWIW, 4 months seems like way too long to receive a car, even if it's "ordered" (which isn't actually possible with a Prius). The best case would be for your dealer to do a dealer trade (trade a car he has in stock or incoming shortly, for one with the configuration you want from another dealer who has it in stock or incoming shortly). This is very common with Toyotas, and you could have your car in a matter of days or weeks. Worse case is for the dealer to "preference" your configuration (I believe that's the nomenclature) to request it in their upcoming allocations. Even that shouldn't take 4 months, unless your dealer has a long waiting list compared to prospective customers. If it were me, I'd contact other dealers to get the car in a more reasonable time frame.
Well, it's not a standard abbreviation used by Toyota (it's just like iP4 as a shorthand for iPhone 4 and Apple didn't invent this abbreviation). Toyota's standard code is AY for Advanced Technology Package with USB & Safety Connect (and formerly AT for the ATP package without Safety Connect).
Hmmm... to refer to a Prius 5AT is odd to me. But, maybe that's just me. I haven't see regular references to that or similar practices here on PC (for model and package designations), yet. I have a 350Z 5AT. (Yeah, yeah, don't shoot me. It's an automatic.) The other choice at the time was the 6MT. On a side note, I've seem people call their Honda Accord V6 an AV6. But, they don't call 4 cylinder versions AI4 or AL4...
OK! Here is what was told to me that there are only 4 2011 V in the Southeast USA but none of the 2011 V have ATP. I was also just contact by another dealer tonight that said she will take off $1,100 off invoice for the car I want for a total of 30,301 +TTL but it must be ordered also and she also said 120 days but should be more like eight to ten weeks. Now I have to contact the dealer that took my order and inform him of the new price I have. I have not given him a deposit yet,
When I ordered my 2010 there were none available in the Northwest. It was built after I ordered it, the Dealer told me 3 months but I had it in about 7 weeks. What you were told sounds OK. Suggest you make sure the deposit is refundable after a certain amount of time, or if the car is damaged, or not what you ordered. Don't sign away your life until you actually see and maybe drive the car you will get. You can hang around here and ask lots of questions while you wait, that's what I did anyway.
Yeah, I agree, most people just spell it out, V or Five with ATP. The OP got confused by what 5AT is so I clarified.
Falcon - I also had a dealership "order" a Black 2011 Prius 5 w/ATP on Saturday. Several local dealers also mentioned there were no Prius 5 with the configuration I wanted in the U.S. and it would be mid April before I got what I wanted. I was fine with that, since I'm in no big hurry and if I'm going to spend $30k + on a car..I want it exactly the way I asked for it. Hopefully they will come through on their word. Your price of $30,301 + TTL is really good. I was quoted $31,800 + TTL.
I am starting to wonder if I am nuts or not! I am driving a 2009 Honda Accord EX-L V6. I like the car its very nice don’t get me wrong, but I am only getting between 27 to 29 MPG and its really starting to cut into my weekly expenses. What I am starting to wonder; will I dislike the Prius after owning it a few months or will I love it more than my Accord? I will have to trade in the car or try to sell myself since my order won’t be in for some time. As anyone else bought the Prius see it as a step up or a step down from what they had before buying the Prius?
I am in love with my Prius as much as a person can love a car. I traded in a 98 Taurus with 200K miles. The only way I could go was a step-up!
