    Hi All,

I'm considering putting an EBH in my 2010 GEN 3 II.

I read all 18 pages of the EBH install instruction thread, however it seems like that is for the GEN 2 Prius.

Since the engine is different in the GEN III, do the same instructions still apply, or is the block different from the 1.5 to the 1.8.

Anybody here know of a DIY for the 2010's EBH install, or is it the same or close enough to the GEN 2 that you can use the same instructions ?

    Thanks

PC member Hobbit did a fantastic write-up on it here:

    3rd-gen block heater

    (I hope I pasted correctly)

In spite of his flawless instructions, I was unable to do it this past weekend. I'll try again when the weather is above 7 degrees!) Yes, I took the cowl off and even the pan under the engine.

Thank you HGR. I read of hobbit's write-up in the GEN 2 18 page thread, but couldn't find it, or a link to it in that thread. I guess maybe I just missed it.

    Thanks again !

I was under the impression the GenIII heater is different. At least the DEFA of Europe part numbers for the GenII and GenIII are different

The sort of plug failure that Hobbit documented is fairly common around here. The cordsets use stranded wire, and the flexing the plug has to go through puts a lot of stress on it.

Before I had a heated garage and had to plug in all the time, I never got more than 2-3 seasons out of a factory plug before it shorted or opened
