Hello all, long time lurker but it's time to go in for the 100k check up on my 08 Prius, I received this quote from my local dealership and was curious if this was standard pricing (tried to use info I got from PC): 1, 100k service 79.95 2, coolant drain and refill 93.00 3, transaxle service 95.00 4, brake flush 123.00 5, brake adjust 45.00 6, throttle cleaning 98.00 Any help would be great, and any other recommendations for service in the Orange County area would be appreciated (Irvine area).
I'm curious as to what "100K service" actually is. What is "transaxle service"? I posted, just the other day, the listing of what everything cost here WA when I took Rudy in. If that's a full engine coolant drain and fill, that looks reasonable. Have you had the coolant pump recall work done yet?
08 didn't get the recall. that looks like a great list and prices, all the best! you put some serious mileage on that puppy.
I would assume for transaxle service they would drain and fill the fluid. For that price it is reasonable. The fluid is around 8.00 per quart and need four quarts to complete. So you are paying them around $62.00 to drain and fill. I just did this service on my 07 Prius and it was a pretty easy DIY project if you are inclined. Brake flush and adjust would be a good idea at 100k. Im not sure what the 79.95 charge for 100 k service includes? I would inquire about that. The quote for coolant drain and refill seems average. I would also ask what the throttle cleaning consists of? Do they just spray the throttle with sensor cleaner??? If that is the case you can buy a can of it at Auto Zone for 6 bucks and DIY.
Seems that the 100k service was only for adjust/cleaning brakes, tire rotation, and an oil change. I asked to pull the oil change and tire rotation and they would perform what else was remaining for $45.00. Thanks all!
1) I believe you are addressing this item's contents and price. 2) If this is the engine coolant loop, consider changing the water pump as well, its a fair price. Also, the coolant in the inverter loop will need to be changed as well. I changed my inverter coolant pump for preventive maintenance at 100k. 3) A resonably fair price, and a good idea if you haven't changed it yet. The consensus on PC is it should be changed every 60k. 4) Seeing as the car is only 3 years old, you can probably wait on this, as long as the fluid appears clear, but not a bad idea to do, and not a bad price. 5) I would recommend against doing this, there is no adjustment possible on the front brakes, and the rears are self-adjusting. The stealer should inspect the brakes when the tires are rotated, its unlikely you would need new linings at 100k anyway. 6) Often not needed and almost pure profit for the stealer. Hope this helps you, Joe
