My tailgate is not lifting up all the way. I have an '06 so it is almost 4 years old. It is about time to replace them. The dealers want over $100 for each but I can find Stabilus replacements (S2SG329019) for under $35 each. I would like know how easy it is to remove the existing struts and are the attachment points re-usable. I'm sure they are needed with the Stabilus replacements. Has anyone found a site which has the struts for less? I would like to hear from any of you out there that has done this part replacement. What are the pros & cons for a do-it-yourself person?
I'm having the small problem with my '04. Does anyone have experience with replacing the struts themselves? Thanks, Peter
Here's an informative thread: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...g/55866-hatchback-liftgate-struts-broken.html I replaced mine with a 90lb pair from a NAPA store for about $50 for the pair. Not a difficult job at all. See the thread.
