More gas consumption, more car repairs and maintenance, more medical care, more insurance payouts....yeah, that should be good for the economy.
Yeah... I was bit surprised by this since gas prices are rising and AFAIK, in the UK are well above $7/gallon now.

The unofficial speed limit on the UK motorways is 80mph anyway with many cars doing more. If you do 70mph on the motorway you will not do much overtaking.
is it just me, or is there nothing in the article explaining how going 80 will boost the economy? is it just the implied fact that they'll have to buy more gas? i'm all for 80mph, just not sure what the reasoning is behind that as it goes with the economy.
