Hello. I'm a new Prius owner, and I'm loving it so far. Small annoyances here and there but nothing major. I saw the post about how to turn off the reverse beep (thank god...) Question is: Most cars will honk the horn briefly or "beep" at you when you hit the lock button. My Prius doesn't. Is there any way to make it do that?
I don't know, but suspect that the answer is 'no'. Your owner's manual will be silent on the subject if you cannot add a beep. The SKS beeps on lock, unlock, and when it refuses to lock. Since SKS equiped cars retain the normal remote features, I suspect that the beep was eliminated from from the normal remote features; this would have been done to reduce confusion with respect to the meaning of various beeps.

Welcome to PriusChat. :yo: I have a TCH (Camry Hybrid), therefore I don't know what options/items are in each package. If you have a remote FOB, your Prius should announce the lock and unlock commands. Thankfully, it doesn't use the horn, but a less irritating beep. You can have the dealer set up customization options for you car. (The settings you're looking for -- lights flash and one or two beeps -- should have been defaulted to ON.) Some people have said that their dealers will set these for free whenever they want, whereas my dealer only allowed one FREE visit in the first year, then it was ~ $60 for follow-up visits. :Cry:
I have a BASE prius (no SKS) and I wanted the short beep when I locked the doors too but the dealer told me they could not do it on my model, only those with the basic alarm (which I think is most models except for the base)
My Prius V has stooped beeping on lock recently and now it locks twice when i touch the handle, it beeps on unlock and opens doors like normal, i tried unplugging the battery but that has not helped. Any other thoughts?

Your car is a Gen 3, so you would get a better quality answer asking your question in the Gen 3 forums. If your car has SKS, then it should be possible to turn on the beep. Also, it should be the default, so you could try disconnecting the 12 V battery for a minute (or two) which will reset all customisable options to their defaults. Be aware that if the seat belt warnings or reverse beep have been changed they also will revert to their defaults. You will also have to reset all your radio station presets, reset the window auto up and you will loose your trip A/B and your MPG averages. If you have access to Techstream or Carista you could change it that way and will not have loose any of the above.
