I’ve had my 2010 Gen III for about five months. I play in a folk band and we do a lot of gigs in DC and Northern Virginia. We have to haul a lot of stuff, and my Prius holds it all – a Bose L1 sound system, mic stands, music stands, instrument stands, a big box full of cables and other electronics, 3 guitars, a banjo and a stand-up bass. But in just a few months my rear bumper has gotten all scratched up moving stuff in and out of the car. I looked around for something I could cover it with to protect it from scratches. The dealership said they could put a non-skid decal on the flat part, but I wanted something that covered a little more. Other than those hideously ugly bumper buddies, I didn’t see anything I liked so I decided to make my own. I made a small quilt out of grey canvas and sewed webbing straps that snap into the D-rings right above the bumper. Total cost to make was about $15.
Seems great minds think alike.... Toyota Australia offers this accessory made from neoprene. But it's not available here. Personally I like this accessory option more than what's offered in the North American market.
