    Make Fuel Out of Beer with Open Line!
    I am no expert but when someone is trying to make cars run on beers, Gee....I wonder, what can possibly go wrong?

    I have never seen someone make fuel out of beer, but I have seen beer make someone into a fool. :cool:

    Most people I know would rather make beer out of fuel.

    Some beer is undrinkable - not sure what they make it out of. This could be used for fuel perhaps?

    If you make beer that can only be sold if the can turns blue to show it's cold, it should be used for something other than drinking.

    Agree with that! I'm still trying to listen to the podcast to find out specifics about this....it doesn't really make sense to me, since I homebrew myself. The problem with lite American beers is that they're very light in gravity: so they don't use as much grain, have "adjunct" ingredients like corn or rice, and is high in water and miniscule in alcohol. My more expensive styles of beer are high gravity beers (that use more grains, and for hoppy styles...a lot of hops). The ethanol that's in even the highest gravity beers is still not as effective as getting it distilled.

    OK, I'm hearing the specifics of this company: the brewery pays them to haul off their spent ingredients, and then the company "digests" those byproducts to methane. At this time, it could be used for running broilers in the breweries for heating water and boiling the "wort"....or for residential furnices. Their products might work alright for the largest breweries, but most micro breweries just recycle locally. Most of the time, breweries just hand the spent grains and hops to farmers (since they make great compost). Just a FYI: spent grains from brewing also make great dog treats! Dogs love malted barley.
