Hi all, Last week I was cruising along at about 55 when I suddenly had to break (cop was pulling over someone next to me, really!)... when I went to reset the cruise control, it wouldn't work. I shut it off, turned it back on, and it still didn't work. I waited a day and then tried again. Still didn't work. I went the requisite number of MPH required for the cruise control to work (I checked the manual - I think it was 35, and I went at least 10 MPH more). It doesn't seem like this is a common problem - I just checked the fora, and nothing close jumps out at me. So has anyone had this problem? Any ideas? Or should I just drive back to the dealer this weekend? I picked up on 9/10, and just broke through 1000 miles... Thanks for any tips. melissa
Maybe your brake switch is shorting. Not sure that would include your brake lights being on all the time...
Definately not a common problem. On the idea of checking stuff...make sure your parking brake didn't somehow get partly depressed. And, just to be absolutely clear, you'd been using the CC without difficulty before this braking incident...correct?
I'll check the parking brake -- I didn't think of that. When I stopped, I used the regular brake and I generally don't even use the parking brake, though once in a while I do. Up until that moment on the highway, I had been using CC without any problems. I stick to CC to get better mileage on the highway. I guess I'll just bring it back this weekend to the dealer. It's sort of a pain more than anything, especially since the car is so new...
