Has anyone used Kumho eco solus hm kr22 tyres on a Prius and what is your view of them. For those that have not herd of these tyres they are all seasons low rolling resistance tyre with 100,000 mile warranty, in both 15 and 16 inch 195/205 55 to fit the Prius. Any feedback good or bad welcome.
I'd check the price against a more well known manufacturer such as Bridgestone or Michelin. If you're only saving a couple of quid then don't bother. If you're saving £hundreds then you already know the answer. Low Rolling Restistance does make a difference to mpgs. Also set at the correct psi's.
The Kumho milage is better than Michelin the Bridgestone turanzas are terrible tyres I will not go there again but you cannot beat real feedback.
I have not seen any posts about that tire in here yet. They appear to be a great buy but I wonder how hard the tire is due to its high mileage warranty. Sometimes those super high mileage tires ride harsh once they break in. another tire to consider is the Nokian enTYRE which may be cheaper for you than us North American folk. Nokian's are very hard to source over here. I'd also be worried about using too hard a tyre here in the UK where it rains alot. Tyres are soft for a reason! Will bore you with a story about cheap tyres. About 10 years ago I was driving a London Taxi in my town and the company used cheap non branded Chinese tyres as they saved £10 each (or so). Well I was coming down a hill towards a red light at about 20 mph in the wet, gentley put the brakes on, the wheels all locked up and I slid about 40 feet. Luckily nobody was in the way but I never have and will never ever use cheap tyres on any of my cars since that alarming experience.
Thanks, Grumpy. I assumed the Nokians would be more common there. About hard tires in the rain, the Michelin Hydroedge is a very high mileage tire that is designed for wet weather traction. I'm not sure tire hardness is a negative attribute in wet weather but it could produce a rough ride on those UK roads I hear about.

I'm running Kumho Solus KR21's. There a great tire. I think they were $62 each. Not a LRR tire so I took a 2 mpg hit but there really good. Quiet. Grippy. I have Kumho's on my other car too. They make a great tire.
Thanks everyone for the input I will need to change tyres for the winter and I think I will give these a go, will keep you informed with my opinion of them after a few miles.
Check which companies have rebates before you decide. Here in the US Michelin and Bridgestone offer $70 rebate when you buy 4 tires.
Unfortunately I live in rip off Britain, looking at your prices on tyrerack if you call it pounds instead of dollars that is what we have to pay. Some times we get offers like buy 4 pay for 3 at depots like Kwikfit but the prices are inflated compared with other tyre dealers.
you can still get cheaper tyres in UK than we in rip-off Eire/ Ireland. Ireland source tyres from UK + margin. KUMHO, do not know on prius, but had them on my other car at size 14''s, were ok and wear was better than dunlop at same size. I think I had them for about full two years and sold the car. Thanks for the point to Blackcircles but they do not list the kumho eco solus, and Iam afraid the tyres you list are not all season low rolling resistance but high performance tyres not needed on a Prius.
correct they don't list kumho eco solus, hankook k115 is lower rolling resistance tire. also: -high wet grip, -asymmetrical thread (aquaplaning value) -thread and fuel efficiency are also listed it's quiet new design 2010/2011, and is used for factory new BMW and MINI. It's all season tyre, Germany have 4 seasons (UK has 1 - raining season ) What is the price of Kumho Eco Solus in UK and what tire size are you using ?
If anyone is willing and we feel it would be helpful I would be happy to include the UK versions of LRR tires in my replacement tire thread.
I currently have Kumho Solus KH16 tires on my touring 2007 prius. These tires have given me good mpg, 48.8 over the time I have run them. Unfortunately i will not get anywhere near their warrantied 60000 mile tread wear. I have 23000+ on them. and they are down to the tread wear indicator bars on all four tires, and yes, I rotated them every 5,000 miles. I am planning on replacing them with the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max 205/55R16s next week. easted
I am currently doing a search on prices but believe they will come in at about £75, (£40/50 pounds cheaper than Mitchelin Goodyer or Brigdestone) I am looking at 205/55/16 & 215/60/16 sizes I also do not believe in spending large amounts of money on a tyre just because it has a well known brand name on the side, most expensive is not always best value sometimes you pay for the name, but I do believe in research. A UK list of LRR tyres sounds like a good idea not sure there would be many different tyres though.
