Just wondering if any of you have strange montages or voices that play in your head certain times. May sounds silly but most people do have it. For instance, when I hear a really corny joke, my mind flashes to a scene from Muppets Treasure Island when Waldorf and Statler (the two old guys) are stuck on the bow of a ship and laughing. Statler: "Take a cruise," you said. "See the world," you said. Now here we are, stuck on the front of this stupid ship. Waldorf: Well, it could be worse. We could be stuck in the audience. Then they do their deep belly laugh. So what are your random voices showing you in your mind?
Those aren't random voices. Those are thoughts. Most of them probably don't even make it to the conscious level - you can't possibly expect me to describe them all. Besides, they happen too fast to write them all down.
Most people have memories associated with thoughts that seem random at times. We have had way too many heavy discussions around here recently. Something needs to lighten the mood... Unless of course your random thoughts center around world destruction and climate change or something lol.
D'oh...we finally get some intelligent conversations going... We could always play word games, which seem to have been mostly ignored lately. Expression of such thoughts, random or otherwise, are governed by Hindenberg's Certainty Principle - you can be right, but you'll go down in flames.
Once when I was a younger man in uniform, I swear I heard my Grandpa's voice tell me to, "Move Jr, NOW!" I did... The next thing that happened while I was moving to better cover was deafening, and pushed me to the ground ten feet ahead of where I was when I was running. I only got stung a little by the rocket... there were others not so lucky... and where I was before was afire. Another time, I was in Brazil, and I swear I heard a voice from my other head tell me that that gal was the one to talk to, even though I didn't know hardly any Portugues... he was right too by golly... So YES... I believe we can hear voices in our head... sometimes they are worth listening to... other times, it could be that little demon trying to get you to do something that ain't so smart... like my second marriage...
As in real voices that sound like someone speaking, not just thoughts? Only once. The only time that has happened to me was when I had a serious fever and was taking some strong medication for it. Strange part was I was lucid enough to know it wasn't real even though it sounded real. Someone on a television show was speaking directly to me about something that had nothing to do with the show.
To quote Harvey Danger, "I hear the voices in my head, I swear to God it sounds like they're snoring."
Voices? No. Strong audible memories? of course. Certain phrases will conjure audible memories in response. Often, they are notable quotes from movies or books that I resonate strongly with. Remember, if you "hear" that "itty bitty voice" telling you that what you are doing is stupid, listen and STOP doing it, immediately!
Very interesting. I'll sometimes get a song stuck in my head, pretty common I think. Hmm: one time, a word popped out of my mouth when I was in dire circumstances. Won't say what it was, but it's in the previous sentence. I honest to god don't know where it came from, but I think it saved my bacon, and I remember it to this day.
Sometimes I'll notice a song from a commercial advertisement going through my head. Then I stop and think "Damn they got me!"
