Tonight I was driving home and the warning light came on. i will take it to the dealer tomorrow but I wanted to get some thoughts about what might be happening. Thursday (this is Sunday) I was driving and noticed that the power lurched a few times. I swiched over to see the energy usage and noticed that the battery was at the lowest bar. It stayed there for about 10 minutes. I called the dealer and started to head there. As I was talking the bars began to rise. It has seemed fine for the last few days until the lights came on tonight. I had just put gas in it. However, the car seems to run just fine and the traction battery seems to be charging just fine. There was no loss of power. Here in Texas it has been over 100 degrees for many days. I had an oil change at the dealer 10 days ago.
Which warning light: the master warning red triangle? Any other lights? Have you checked the engine oil level? If it is too low, the master warning triangle will come on, but no other clue will be offered to help you figure out what is wrong.
How about you were in heavy traffic with the a/c on and the HV battery ran down. It's normal. As regarding lurching - new one on me. I've had 51k hard miles out of my 2010 and never had it lurch. You did say you had it serviced recently. Are you 110% sure they used 0w20 oil and not some cheaper stuff hoping you don't notice? When mine had 5w30 in by mistake the car would hesitate when transitioning from EV to ICE. This was 'cured' when the correct (and expensive) 0W20 oil was put in.
