Didn't the 2006 gain a few more HP, like up from 106 to 110 HP total? If so, how about the 2012 regular Prius getting 138 HP net?
That's too bad, but with the tsunami and all, understandable. They were a bit late getting the 2011's in ... about beginning of December 2010 instead of the usual late September/early October time frame.
That's what "resculpted front-bumper fascia" indicates, unless they actually meant the Prius v and not the regular Prius.
Wouldn't be surprised if regular Prius gets new bumper fascia ... maybe they found a way to make it a little more aerodynamic.
Nope. It was always 110hp net. Purely cosmetics for 2006 (well that and a few safety items like front passenger occupant detection system - their words)
So according to http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-h...t-debut-77-increase-in-mpg-3.html#post1372015 they're going to "pop" out even less than what we currently have and no indication that they're full LED? Reminds me of the restyled grill on the 2009 RX350 which was so minor making it essentially negligible. The biggest change in terms of look that everyone will catch is obviously the resculpted front-bumper fascia.
We still have not seen the rear tail-lights (well, we have but only from the side), maybe they are dramatically redesigned where it counts as in where they light up, we just don't know yet. The headlights, yeah, they don't look too dramatically different. Looking at them more though, I see dots which on the halogen 3rd gen and on the 2006-2009 were non-functional and there for cosmetic reasons. I wonder if now they are functional led's for parking lights (audi style) since they are added onto the more expensive led headlight assembly? Pictures, we need more pictures! lol
Given the shorter side reflectors on both the 2012 plug-in and Prius v, I wouldn't be surprised if the rear view of the taillights looks a lot like those on the Prius v. After all, it did copy the resculpted front-bumper fascia of the Prius v.
I don't know, the v's tail lights look too similar to what we have now. Considering the changes to the front headlights I would expect more of a change to the taillights... Well, that and I just don't want the Prius v looking tail lights o I'm hoping you are not on to something...
What changes to the front headlights? The 2012 plug-in headlights hardly look any different from what we currently have.
This is only from what I can see looking at the photos, but it seems there is no 3rd LED on top of the two projector beams, the chrome is gone replaced with a satin silver and perhaps LED parking lights if in fact those are what the dots are above the projector beam housing. It may not be the substantial visual change you wanted but it is still change...
thats how the facelifts work... in industry they are called MMC (minor model change) vs FMC (full model change). Prius looks good, sells good, no need to do much... led drl's will make it look more high tech for sure.
that complete list is made of cars that will be introduced in year 2012, they wont be all 2012 MY in USA. Prius on the other hand I am sure it will be.
Exactly! The fact of the matter is that until anyone on this forum actually sees the new car with their own eyes, the best we can do is speculate and conjecture. I'm sure there's someone somewhere who knows the details but I guess they're not talking.
I agree, hence my earlier point not to expect anything dramatically different from what we currently have or from the 2012 Prius v. One thing that bothers me about MMC is they sometimes add things just to keep the model looking fresh but don't necessarily enhance the appearance of the car and might even make them worse. The chrome door handles on the 2008 RX350 was one such change, and they reverted back to color-keyed handles on the completely redesigned 2010 RX350.
I like what they did with the LED headlights on the PHV. It looks more aggressive compared to the 2010/2011 Prius. Hopefully that translate into the 2012 Prius too and not just on the PHV.
Will it have the electrical plug that Toyota is putting on it's Japanese cars? (for laptops, etc.) Toyota To Offer A Different Kind Of Plug-In | The Truth About Cars And then will the Plug in Prius have a "plug in-side" ?
