    You’re thinking “yet another rattle thread”, but no one has put together a survey to determine how many members here have experienced rattles (the term “rattles” to also include plastic ticking/rubbing sounds or creaking sounds) in their G3 Prius. This survey/poll will attempt to get a trend as to where and when your Prius was manufactured as it relates to rattles or rattle-free operation. Also, your climate could be a factor.

    In order to participate, please locate the highest sticker inside the driver’s door frame – it is black with white lettering. In the upper right corner of the sticker, you will find the manufacture date of your car in the format of MM/YY.

    Also, just above the bar code in that sticker is the VIN #. Look at digit # 11 and it should have one of three possible values:

    0 = made in Tsutsumi plant line # 1
    1 = made in Tsutsumi plant line # 2
    5 = made in Fugimatsu plant.

    Please make a note of these values before proceeding. Then post the month and year of manufacture after taking the poll.

    If you answered YES that your G3 Prius has or had rattles, Please feel free to copy and paste the below survey into your post after the manufacture date. Then place an X in front of the answers that pertain to your rattle experience. I will periodically tally the answers to into a summary so collectively we can discover any trends.

    PLEASE – this is not a thread for complaints…there are plenty of those threads already. We are just interested in statistics that could lead us to some conclusions about why rattles happen in some Prii.

    The tonneau cover squeaks and it's the same on the old Prius. The centre console box lid creaks if I put pressure on it (it didn't do it when new). I'm only listing warm weather creaks and squeaks since cold weather does funny things (I'll hear the moonroof creak for example)

    It would be interesting to also chart which country received the majority of specific plant rollouts. Since most PC'ers are posting from USA the figures may lean more towards one plant compared to another. ?

    07/10, 11,000 miles, was rattle (tick) free for the first 300 miles. LOVE the car, but this is a bad showing for a car maker who used to make cars that just wouldn't rattle.

    _X_other: The seat adjustor on the front passenger's seat rattles if the seat is slid all the way back -- stops if I move it one click forward, I get a loud click from the exterior of the car when I hit some bumps, dealer was no help, but doing some reading here, it sounds like it is something with the brakes.

    I have two Prii, the one described below (a '10) and an '11. The survey won't let me enter two vehicles. The 2011 was made in 03/11 in Tsutsumi #2. It has no rattles as yet (2,200 miles).

    Methinks it's something to do with switching from screws to plastic clips. They save weight for sure (just imagine how many screws there would've been) but clips do allow for some movement of plastic parts vs. screws.

    Just posted about how sensitive I am to rattles. I am a fairly new owner of a G3 Prius V. I am always listening for rattles. Somehow my average hearing is dog-like compared to dealer service managers. I don't hear any yet and our car lives mostly in the garage or sunny environments.
