Noob here. Picking up my new III this week and really want to upgrade to the 17's. I see some who have the Momo Winter 2's...but I can't find them with the 5x100 bolt pattern? Can anyone shed some light? I really like how the spokes are filled thicker and the wheel is not so open. Any similar alternatives? Thanks for any info and looking forward to participating in this great forum as I begin to tweek and mod myself silly.
They are at Discount Tires..just not in my location. When I checked other areas with the item number a member messaged me, they were there in the proper 5-100.
17's weigh more: 1. will decrease MPG 2. cause longer braking distances 3. cause slower launches & slower acceleration 4. look nice 5. stiffen up cornering feel. 6. increase unsprung weight. 7. will have less rubber available to absorb potholes All actual race cars have high profile tires, not low profile tires. Rubber is lighter than metal.
Nick, you forgot to add that 17" tires are more expensive and there are less choices for LRR models. Depending on the race car, most tires are actually low profile. This is especially true for race cars using vry wide tires as profile is simply a ratio of tire width and sidewall height. the smaller the aspect ratio the less sidewall flex you get. Some race cars are limited to the size tire they can use so they have to run a tire with a higher aspect ratio. Tire Tech Information - Tire Size Guide
