I'm looking to buy a 2011 or 2012 Prius (non-plug-in), before the end of this year. Not sure if the 2012 Prius will be in dealerships by then (one dealer said they could be in by November). In any case, I would like to know if the 2011 (and/or 2012) Prius qualifies for a Colorado state tax credit for the tax year 2011. A search didn't reveal any Colorado tax credit info for 2011. Also, assuming 2012 and 2011 models both qualify for any credits, which model year would you recommend buying? FWIW, I plan to buy a Prius 2. Thanks!
I think Income 9 on this page may be useful. I purchased a Prius this year in Colorado as well. Department of Revenue - Taxation:Income
Thanks salyavin, that was helpful and at least gives me some hope . Income 9 does mention there is a tax credit on the 2011 Prius of $3382 if purchased on or before Dec 31st 2011. Do you happen to also know if a 2012 Prius purchased before the end of this year qualifies for any credit? If so, how do we calculate the credit? Income 9 doesn't seem to put a restriction on model years, but only restrictions on purchase date. Just wanted to get your viewpoint on this. I checked with a Denver Toyota dealer and they were surprisingly clueless on tax credits for the Prius.
