I got an even nicer one from my dealer ... fits better, and has just the cutouts for the buttons ... instead of the whole face ... cost $5.99. They're nice and I think they may provide a little shock protection if dropped ... might save a $600 fob. REV
I got one of these covers (the red one) for my 2011 fob. It was $6.99 with no tax or freight, and it arrived via US Mail in a couple of days. It's easy to pull over the fob, and the grippy rubber surface keeps the fob from slipping out of my pocket. (I put a little slip of paper in between the jacket and the fob with my phone number, in case it gets lost) Store link: Toyota Smart Keyless Remote Cover (tyotag54)
... why would anyone want a cover for their iPhone? It's just the same principal. Like an earlier poster mentioned, it protects the fob from knocks, bumps and drops; it makes an otherwise dull product you have on your person all the time, something a little more exciting and personal; it makes your fob easy to find in a bag full of other bits; and it lets everyone know you drive a Prius, even when you're not driving your Prius
To freak out a little less if I drop keyfob. Ended up getting one free at Toyota. Called, had them put one on hold. Showed up and they never found on hold.
Provides a certain degree of shock protection if dropped on a hard surface. Provides a little tackiness if in a pocket like a hoodie so it doesn't slip out. Provides a bright color for higher visibility if it's lost somewhere. They're really nice. REV
