the energy monitor, the item on the left in the v dashboard and on the right in the Prius, reminds me of the old vacuum gauges that some car manufacturers used to install to provide an indication of economy. My question is what exactly is the Prius energy monitor monitoring? charging or not charging is easy enough I guess, but I am not sure about the rest of the gauge range.
I believe it is just a visual representation of your throttle input. I have found it handy for realizing that when I am just maintaining speed that I often use too much throttle. Also a good way to learn the throttle positioning requirements to engage the traction battery and learning how much throttle will kick the traction battery off. When I do pulse and glide its handy to make sure the throttle inputs you think your foot is giving are actually the ones you want.
