Not sure, but I think power seats are responsible for many batteries getting drained in dealer showrooms. Now the 2012 Four and Five have power seats.

Assuming 2012 still has potential for $$ damage if jumped improperly, hopefully new and used dealers are / will be prepped to deal with this.

For the most part, the dealers do not have the slightest clue, or seem to care much. I for one will be checking my 12V very carefully with a multimeter and the diagnostic check before I take possesion of my new PIP. If I think it needs a charge, I will demand that they charge it and annotate a problem upon initial pick-up.

If there's ANY question about the health of the 12V battery, make the dealer change it before delivery. It's key to getting max mileage out of the vehicle, and it will be even more difficult after delivery to prove that the battery has been damaged by excessive discharge and perhaps other dealer practices.

Oddly, I saw the lot guy at the dealership plug something into the cigarette lighter to jumpstart a Prius that was inside the showroom.
