I bought my Prius v the first day they were available for purchase in the USA. I just finished the 90-day XM trial. I called Sirius XM to set up my annual subscription for radio and XM Nav. Toyota Customer Experience folks say XM Nav is available on my radio/nav package. XM website says the 2012 Prius v will allow XM Nav. XM customer service now says the car will not accept XM Nav. XM says I need to take the car to the dealer. The dealer says they have not idea what I am talking about. The Toyota Corp office person (Toyota Cust Experience Center) says the car is ready to go for XM Nav off the showroom floor. Anybody have any suggestions on how to turn on the XM Nav? (I have the Prius v Five with 6.1 screen -- Premium Display Audio -- not the top-of-the-line radio with 7" screen and JBL speakers).
Your Prius v 5 definitely has XM. Check Product info here: http://priuschat.com/forums/attachm...lease-materials-2012-prius-v-product-info.pdf Read up on subscription renewal here: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-2010-prius-audio-electronics/88789-xm-radio-renewal.html I would call again to try to get somebody more knowledgable. Strange that they are making it hard to give them money.
I appreciate the help CHAZZ8! I'm still having trouble and it might be because your vehicle is the ATP version and mine is not. The product brochure you sent the link to has the following statement under the Prius v Five "Advanced Technology Package": XM Data Services, including NavTrafficTM, NavWeatherTM, Fuel, and Sports & Stocks. I have the Premium Display package offered for the Prius v (under packages three and five -- 6.1 inch control screen) but not the Advanced Tech Package (offered only under the five package -- part of the entire $6k add-on package that includes the 7" control screen and the sun roof). Nothing in my literature shows that my version of the Prius v (Five without ATP) can get the NavTraffic from XM. The Toyota folks say I can. The XM website says I can. The link you sent for XM renewal says I can't. Anyone have feedback on this problem? Do you have a non-ATP version of the Prius v with XM NavTraffic? Thanks!
It is a little confusing, but prius v package 3 and up have some XM features (just radio?). Like you referenced, you need package 5 with Adv. Tech. Package to get the XM data services. They keep surprising me with the things they reserve for that massive Adv. Tech. Package. Note: The link to XM renewal is from the Gen III forum. It was intended to show you what kind of deals others have obtained to help you get the lowest price for what you want. Have fun!
Your 6.1" gets traffic information through the ENTUNE data connection, not XM. The ATP unit gets traffic through XM NavTraffic.
Thanks again! I appreciate the crosstalk and advice -- so few people have any experience with this stuff -- including the dealership. Anyone else have any luck getting XM Nav on their Prius V (not FIVE/ATP package)?
MBR Guru -- thanks to you too. I did notice and try the Entune-based nav traffic program. I hate having to log into my iPhone Entune app each time I get into the car. So, I was willing to spend the $3.99 per month for XM Nav if I could get it.
I finally have a solution from the Toyota Customer Experience Center (Corporate Offices). For the 2012 Prius V units, the only Prius V package that can get XM Nav/XM Weather is the "HDD" head unit (7" screen) found with the most expensive advanced technology package on the Prius v (package five). All other Prius V's cannot get XM NAV/WEATHER -- only the XM radio option. Put another way, my Prius V (FIVE Not ATP) has the "Display Audio - 6.1 inch screen" head unit and, as such, does not support XM NAV as I was hoping. I am running just with XM Select radio. Bummer. Note 1: As of 2.13.12, the Sirius XM web site still just says "yes" to XM NAV if you pick the drop down menu choice of "2012 Prius V". But, you can't get a contract and actual service unless your VIN coincides and actual radio are the HDD head unit on the ATP package. Note 2: the Entune system does still support Traffic information after you link to your phone and have the proper Entune APP/Traffic function turned on. Too much trouble for me for short trips. Note 3: Details -- the HDD radio can receive two XM signals, one for the radio and one for the NAV signal. The "Display Audio" head unit can only receives one signal from XM -- and that is the radio function only. XM NAV only works in some cities as of 2.13.12.
