Just got my new Broadway 270mm convex rear view mirror and clipped it on the OEM...perfect fit with the provided spring clip attachment. It provides a significant increase in peripheral visibility, something that is welcome in the Prius. Delivered price (eBay) was $18.00, with very prompt service from the vendor. I will provide specifics if anyone interested. Very little optical distortion noted...downside: can't use the night-dimming feature of the stock mirror...overall, very pleased.
So this is for the inside mirror? I have noticed a blind spot on the driver side -- I wonder if the outside mirrors needed to be smaller for aerodynamic reasons? I had a similar blind-spot with my MB estate (wagon). I was able to order the MB european split mirrors - they solved the problem. I wonder if they sell a similar mirror in europe for the Prius?
I use the standard mirrors. Somewhere I read about this trick for setting mirrors (for left hand drive vehicles) and it works great. 1) With your head pressed against the drivers side window adjust the left outside mirror so you just see the back of the car. 2) Leaning as far to the right as possible, adjust the right outside mirror so you can just see the back of the car. The mirror view may look strange to you initially, but if done correctly you will see that as a car (passing on the left) just starts to leave the view in the rearview mirror, it will appear in the left outside mirror and just as it disappears from the left outside mirror it will appear in your peripheral vision.
It'd sure be nice if someone would come up with one like that which would just hook into the factory wiring and retain all the features that our stock mirrors come with...
