All, I recently has the 12V starter battery die in my 2007 Prius III (posted in a separate thread and thank you all for your help)...Now right before it died, I noticed my keyless remote was also not responding to presses as it did before...The only way to start the car was to insert the remote into that key/remote insert....I thought it had to do with the starter battery being weak at that time... Anyhow, now I have changed the 12V battery and the car runs just peachy...BUT I still have one issue - the keyless remote is not responding (thought the car does start when I insert that remote into the remote insert)...before all I had to do was keep that remote in my pocket and it would start. My question is - Is this just an issue of a dead remote battery which I need to change or is this because when my 12V starter battery died it reset something where the keyless remote is not working? Just want to check with the experts as to whether this is a simple remote battery change issue or something else. Thanks in advance. Regards Rajiv
change the remote battery. 2 for 5 bucks, worth the investment. both the 12v and fob batteries are near the end of their average life. hopefully, that solves your problem. all the best!
Before you pay for a new battery, make sure the Key switch under the steering wheel is in the proper position. It will disable the SKS when activated. Tom
I see two bkackj things below the steering, one is a press button switch and another is something i cannot tell (doing this from memory as I am not in front of it)...but is that push button the SKS or am I looking at something else?
There are two push buttons on the dash under the steering wheel. One sets the TPMS system, the other enables or disables the SKS. I believe the SKS button is labeled as "key". You want to try that one in both positions. Tom
