hey- new to the board and looking for a new Prius (possibly). I went to a dealership this past weekend to do a test drive and check out the window stickers. One point of confusion was that all of the stickers I saw said "Prius two" but some of those still appeared to have a touch screen (whether it was a nav or a radio, I can't say). On top of that, the stickers showed between $2,500 - $4,500 "market value" adjustment (i.e., markup). Because I'm looking to lease, I asked the saleswoman, who just provided me with the national ad ($250/mo for a Prius two, $2500 down), with no mention of the markup. I'd like to get a Prius three (i.e., one with nav) and nothing else. Is this possible? Is the window sticker still going to show "prius two"? And if anyone can chime in, this would be a second car for my wife and I, and we're trying to keep our expenses down... what should I reasonably expect to pay? Thanks! I look forward to exploring the board more.
A Prius II is a Prius II. There are specific options available to certain models and not others. The Prius II has the 6.1" touch screen but no Navigation. You have to go to the model III to get Nav. The Model III and IV have the option for a solar sunroof which can raise the price considerably. I would suggest visiting the Toyota website and click the Build Your Own button to see how the pricing works for the options you want. The 3rd Generation Toyota Prius Hybrid models and prices
Poor Toyota, nobody gets that it's now a Prius 2 not a II, so that you can't buy a Vv see? This even drives Diane nuts (according to an old post).
F8L the website is the cause of the confusion because what I saw on the lot doesn't match up with the website. There was actually a "Prius two" that purported to have nav, in one. Any other thoughts, or comments on the markup/prices in general? What's a fair price on a Prius three? iPhone ?
I honestly don't know how they can consider a Prius Two a Two when it has NAV. In your first post you stated: "One point of confusion was that all of the stickers I saw said "Prius two" but some of those still appeared to have a touch screen (whether it was a nav or a radio, I can't say)." If the car had NAV then it would have been a Three unless the window sticker was typed/printout wrong. I really doubt that is the case and what you saw was the normal 6.1" touchscreen stereo without NAV. Now there are some regional differences between cars but NAV should be a fundamental difference that doesn't change by region but may change by country. I looked at a Miami zip code option page and there doesn't appear to be a NAV option for the model Two. Your best bet is to go back to the dealership and verify the options and package on the car. Better yet, find a different dealer that is not charging a "market adjustment". Anything above MSRP should be avoided like the plague! If there are no dealers in your area selling below MSRP then consider catching a flight to Southern California and buying a car from Dianne at Carson Toyota. The money saved would pay for your flights and taxes plus some. lol
