Most of the major differences between the 05 and 06 it seems have been posted. Here is a place to post smaller detail differences as they are discovered. MFD Start-up screen: 05 = "Prius Hybrid Synergy Drive" w/ blue&white colored background 06 = "Toyota" w/emblem(above) and all black background
Per the manual, some models of the '06 have the same screen on start up as the '05's. Not clear to me which, but I think its only the #1 option package. Not sure why they did that, but the manual does show both start up screens, depending on which package was purchased (they just called them Type 1 and Type 2).
I'm think that any difference in the startup screens being there for packages 2+ would be different because of the upgrade to new higher-res screens. your belief that it starts at package 2 with the backup cam is hopeful - i've also heard it starts with package 5 with bluetooth. I much prefer the former
Orange??? :huh: For 2006 I know they changed the Red, green, silver and maybe something else? (adding other grey) but orange?
Hmm, that's what I saw in the SETTINGS menu, the same menu where you can change the automatic transition. Could someone post a picture of that screen please?
Sorry Tideland - my mistake. Thought you were referring to ecterior colors, not screen colors - I agree with you. Oops. LOL
Yes, the (2) color choices are Orange and Green. I belive I have discovered another difference. Today, I left for my dad's in the early morning, and had SKS on. As I approached the car, the interior lights(above back seats) turned on before I had reached for the handle. They shut off after I stepped back out of range of the car. When I got to my dad's, we tried the same thing with his 05, but nothing. We changed the interior switch from "on" to "door" but still nothing. I went back to my 06 and the switch was set to "door". Perhaps we missed something and it also works for the 05, but from our testing it did not appear so. As there are plenty of 05 owners here, if someone reads this and it works for theirs, please post to confirm. Otherwise, this is an additionaly feature for the 06.
My 05 definitely does this light trick too - but only if the car is in a dark area like my garage. It startled the heck out of me the first time it happened - now I like it!

Look at your HUD. On the 06 it reads (left to right) Transmission display, Speedometer, Fuel/ODO. On the 05 (at least), the order is reversed.
