Just a note for every body I got my 2011 Prius in October of 2011 and the MPG has run between a low of 45.5 to a high of 49.7. I also smile ever time I drive by a gas station.
My wife smiles all the time as she has been averaging 54-56 mpg but recently she got up as high as 60.3 mpg. I was really shocked to say the least. Too bad she can't maintain that high number.
We traded in the 01 Voyager with real world 12-14 mpg in town driving for the 2011 Prius II back on Jan 14th. She immediately started getting 3 times or better mpg than the van! Her tanks have been 42, 43, 45, 47, and currently 50 mpg. When gas was $3.10-$3.15 per gallon she was saving $200 a month in gas savings and so in reality she is driving a new car for under $80 a month back then, and now even more gas savings is working to our advantage. I got 62.1 on the one trip I used it on with the cruise set at 55 mph....which blew the 60.1 best mpg that my 96 Hypermiled Geo 3 banger got out of the water! The Geo had no mechanical mods, but was lightened up by 140 lbs, and had aero improvements involving a grill block and headlight covers.
