Do you disconnect and remove your scan gauge when you take your car in for service? For my 5000 mile service I removed it. Coming up on 10,000 and wondered if the dealer must use the connection point to check the car? I was thinking they may not connect it and sync it properly at start. Just wondered about other users experiences?? Thanks
I leave mine right where it is ... if the dealer needs the port, he disconnects it, and reconnects the SG when he's done. It's no big deal. REV
First time I disconnected it but left the scan there... Second time just left it there ... IF they connected any computer they disconnected and connected it back I had no issues whatsoever certainly doesn't hurt the scanner either way .... I am going to Toyota Dealer ship at least while warranty period is going + I did buy the Toyota Care Plan .... it was financed by them (but later refinanced the whole thing so at the end I came out just fine)
My household's two cars with ScanGauges have never had them disconnected at their respective service shops. Only the state emission check stations have done that.
Call me paranoid but I never leave anything of any value (ScanGauge, EZ-Pass, tools, etc.) in my car when I drop it off at the dealer. Must be the New Yorker in me...
The dealership I go they actually "video tape" the car around and inside .... it is cheap and only add a minute more to the write up time. And later no dispute if they scratched your car or it was there before same thing with anything in the car .... visibly ... of course ... but yes it is prudent not to leave anything there ... (I never thought taking the EZ-Pass out .. it is linked to the car !!!)
