Hey Guys... I am a Musician/Drummer on the fence with either the 2012 Prius or 2012 Honda Fit Sport. Anyone out there cram drums in a Prius on a regular basis? I could go the Prius V route for more cargo but MPG grabs my attention a lil more on the 3rd Gen . Thanks !
Welcome aboard! Acoustic or electronic? There was one member that packed his acoustic set in his Gen III without issue. I will try to find that thread... [edit]... The good news is: here is the thread... the bad news, the pictures are missing.
I am able to fit my drums (22X18,12X8,16X16,14X5) and cymbal case in my Gen3 but it's tight. Can't fit my hardware case so hardware goes in a duffle. I have a friend who is able to fit a 24X14,13X9,16X16,14X6 as well as his cymbals and hardware in his 2007 Prius and his drums are in SKB's. It's possible to do depending on your kit size, just need to be a bit creative.
Awesome! Thanks guys. I usually play on a 26x14 , 14x8 snare 13x9, 16x16, 18x18 ride hats and 2 crashes. In this case roll with just one floor and not the 18x18. I have a taller SKB case for my hardware but was looking at downsizing to the smaller SKB road case or a bag of some sorts. I guess I cant make up my mind on the Fit or the Prius. I know both are reliable. I am looking at a ballpark of $6000 in difference between the two with the Fit being the cheaper. I know guys who fit kits in the Fit pretty well and was just reaching out to the Prius community for some opinions.
Managed to get a drum kit and bass guitar and amp in a gen3 a couple of times (plus me and the drummer). OK, so it was the drummer's smaller kit but that was still bass drum, snare, high hat, floor tom, horseshoe shaped tom frame and 3 toms, cymbals (in case), stands, drummers suitcase of odds and ends, drum stool, drum mat (ok a carpet), bass guitar (in case), mic stand (and mic), bass combo, bass effects pedal board, bass player's bag of leads, music stand. It is a good idea to have a practice run in daylight (and not raining) to see how it all fits together. You can get a lot into the back of a prius.
