I said "treat" the dash. People have tendency to spray Armor All and other such chemicals on the dash as a treatment to prolong life or resist UV damage. I use the Quick Detailer to remove a smudge of dirt or the like when water alone won't do it. In my mind there is a big difference between spraying your dash as a treatment or for gloss vs. spot cleaning. ;)

I'm leery of using chemicals on that huge superheating dust-magnet black plastic dash too....

I take a microfiber cloth- run it under tap water for a few seconds, then wring it out as best I can- then just rub it damp like that over the dash. Leaves the dash looking like new with no dust, fibers, etc... and no harmful chemicals, smells, etc.
After the dash- I clean the door sills w/the same damp cloth... rise the cloth with soap and water and it's good to go for next time.

I have a California Dash Duster that i use to remove the dust.
Then I use Meguires Interior Cleaner (I like it because it's real mild) sprayed on a microfiber cloth and wiped over all the interior surfaces.
Finally I might use a protectant like Optimum Protectant Plus on the main surfaces. Never anything glossy. Just a bit of UV protection and whatever else to help keep things in top top shape.

    I'm probably "weird".

The Honda Fit has a pure plastic dash...relatively large.

During the Fall and Winter, when direct sun in the Northwest is nearly absent? I use Meguiars Interior Detailer....it seems light, and I like the look it leaves.

During the Spring and Summer, when the sun re-appears? I switch to 303 Aerospray Protectant. I like the idea that it has better UV protection, incase I forget to put up my sunshade. It looks pretty good, although slightly higher gloss than the Meguiars...

So I change my product, based on the season...and environment.

a Swiffer sweeper insert folded in the glove box, makes dust management incredibly easy, all year long.

    Not weird at all.
But I believe (and I'm sure the more scientific types can weigh in with better info) that even though the sun is behind clouds, UV rays still penetrate.

Yeah, I'm probably just kidding myself. But I slightly like the look the Meguiars leaves...more natural...

The 303 is relatively low shine...but I can see it....I like to imagine it is helping...when the Sun is beating down on the dash. Even though, UV rays are probably as you say, always present....

My greatest UV protection for my Dash is using my Sunshade, which I also do for most of the Spring and Summer...late fall.
