Changing headlamp bulbs--am I a superklutz?

    I've got a Gen II (2008) Prius. One headlight went out and I, thinking it would be easy, bought two replacement bulbs. The instructions in the manual show how to remove the rubber cover and retaining spring.

    Unfortunately, it seems impossible for an adult, even a small one like me, to get his hands down there.

    Should I just return the bulbs, bite the bullet and have the dealer make the change?

    There are some good videos on you tube that you can watch. Also try and find a diagram online and see what you are feeling...that's how I do it. By the way i'm 6'3" 240.

    I had to go through a couple of videos about removing the bumper before I found the one I needed--but I just changed my headlamps.

    I can't believe what a PITA it was, but I got it done and saved myself a trip to the dealer's for what used to be a simple DIY matter.

    Sorry I failed to mention this earlier, I had posted from my phone so it was short. I remove the washer fluid reservoir on the passenger side and the fuse box cover on the drivers side, to get a little easier access. One thing I always do is to put on nitrile gloves so I don't get any oils on the new bulbs. Reportedly oils on the bulb can cause premature failure. The last set I got was 5000k for $50 from Maxlux on Amazon, they have been in since January and have had no issues, which is longer than the ones I got previously from the dealer and other suppliers.
