I"m new to the PiP and only have had it a week. Any recommendation from long time or experienced users on how to get the best MPG? I live about 4 miles to the freeway onramp...some hills to get there, then there is a good 30 miles Freeway driving (assuming I'd be in all ECO Mode in HV while on freeway). I then exit the freeway and my office is about another 4 miles from the offramp. I'm tring to figure out the best combo of HV/EV usage. oh & I cannot charge it up at work.
My computer is 46 miles one way. I have a couple of miles on each end not on the freeway. Using EV on each end and using the car pool lane where possible I'm getting around 62 mpg. Before getting in the carpool lane and driving slower I was getting 65 to 68. I only get one charge as I can't charge at work. If I'm traveling under 40 I'll use EV if I have any available. I was getting 47 in my 06 so I can't complain.
Personally I would use EV for the "start" of each direction. The reason for this is with the engine warmed up from the 30 miles of freeway, it's more efficient after that then during the slower "lead in" time. I tend to save some EV range for lunch, as it tends to be shorter trips. Once I get my office to permit me to charge at the office, this will no longer be an issue.
i would use ev when not on the freeway and hv on the freeway. if you find that you get home with ev to spare, and you can drive the freeway under 62 mph, use it there.
So when you leave your house in the AM you use HV mode then when you exit the freeway you go to EV...& the reverse when you leave work, leaving in HV mode then going to EV when you exit the freeway to your home?
