Is it just me, or does the horn on the Prius C sound pretty weak? I was driving my C3 down the road one day and a truck almost merged right into me...I swerved into the other lane and honked, but even with my windows down it sounded weak... Anyone else feel the same? Any remedies?
the pitch of the horn typically relates to how big a vehicle is... low pitched vehicles for large ones.. and higher when the vehicle is smaller. it's just how things are associated... you can always get something lower pitched and louder... but people might be look around for the large truck that was honking at them. lol.
I believe there was a thread discussing about this. Yes, the horn on the "c" is incredibly low. People usually ignored me when I horned, and I have anything negative to say about the "c", and that'll be it!
Quiet horn? Why, of course there's a mod for that!!! http://priuschat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88297
Some good info in that thread, but it shows the installation of dual horns in a V, while the C has only a single horn, and according to SquallLHeart the only way to get to it is by removing the front bumper. More info on our horn in this thread on the C forum.
I hadn't even thought about how the horn sounded until this thread popped up so earlier today when my munchkin and I were driving in the C and tested it. LOL It goes "Meep Meep!" Munchkin said it sounded like the Road Runner!
I have been thinking of doing this myself...BUT...removing the bumper is a pain. Can the OEM horn be disconnected, abandoned in place, and new horns installed under the hood?
