I have AT package. can not find the setup for the backup camera to show guideline. is it even available?
Very frustrating. My last car had proximity sensors for distance and loved that feature. Much better than a camera. I find it hard to judge distance with the camera. Anyone have any tips? Seems to be some aftermarket sensors but leery about going there.
You CAN see the end of the bumper, though because of the angle the scale gets distorted. Sometimes I use shadows as a secondary measure. I guess if you're trying to drive backwards using the rear view monitor, it would be tricky, but I haven't had any problems with my daily back up routine. I can't imagine the weight difference (as reported) between the wiring harness from a front charge port to a rear port was so great that Toyota engineers moved the port to the rear. I CAN imagine the cost difference was important to them. Unfortunately, unless you can garage your PiP, a rear port makes charging far less trivial that it should be.
At the dealer I bought my PiP from (Capitol Toyota in San Jose) the dealer seems to be adding backup sensors to ALL the PiPs that come in ... for $1100. I managed to snag one that they hadn't done it to yet, so I avoided the extra expense for something I didn't want ... a backup camera AND backup sensors seems like overkill to me. But if you WANT sensors, they are clearly available. ...Sam
