Does anyone know of any on the market for the gen 3 Prius? I reallymwouldnlove to get small preferably powered sub. I'm not a huge audio knurd but would love to have some extra bottom end. Bad thing I regularly use my cargo space and don't want to lose it. Would love to have some sort of box that would fit on the sides in the back sort of tucked away. I'd prefer to buy something cause I'm really not a "custom job" kinda guy. Just thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone had any thoughts. Thanks ahead of time.
lookin forward to an answer myself. the more research i do the more i think i am just going to replace the door speakers
I am considering the same. I'm sure I will at some point. But wanted to see what option was out there on this topic first. There again I don't know the first thing about changing them out so I will most certainly have to enlist the help of someone regardless. Just doing some homework first

V/r Khoi Nguyen PS: I can not upload the files, because it too large, what can I do ?????
The small one is the Twitter. You sould have gotten a component speaker system to replace the Twitter and the midrange (it also includes a crossover). Example: Infinity Reference X REF-6500cfx 6-3/4" component speaker system — also fit 6-1/2" openings at Crutchfield.com You basically downgrading your system...
No. That was only an example of a component system. The JBL system uses a midrange and a twitter in each door. Replacing them with coaxials is a downgrade in my opinion. I have Prius Two so for me using the speakers Khoi purchased would be an upgrade.
Ikagan; I did not realize that I have twitter in the rear door that why I did not looking for the twitter replacement and twitter wire speaker replacement; in this case I will do that later, right now I just want to replace the front and the back door speaker and install sound deaden and see how better will I get!!, just by everybody in this forum said the sound will be a lot better at least 50%, hopefully that near future I can find direct replacement for all 4 twitters and the Amp. I'm not a big expert, but it does not make sense to get coaxials and then add twitters. You will need a crossover to channel the highs to the twitters. A component system includes the crossovers and the mid-range/twitters are matched. I suggest you speak with a competent installer to get an expert advice BEFORE you screw it up . You can go to Best Buy and ask the installer there (NOT the sales person).
Ikagan let me making sure that I understood what you said!, 9632CF and 6032SI is 2-way speakers, and that is what people in here replaced speakers come with the car, when you said Coaxials is it 2-way or 3 way? please verify. V/r Khoi Nguyen
Coaxial can be a 2 way or 3 way. The twitter is mounted on top of the midrange. In a component system the twitter is separate so it can be placed higher for better imaging (just like in your stock JBL system).
Ikagan 9632cf and 6032si IS 2-way, I just checked them out and people in this forum using these speakers to replace JBL speaker in Prius III JBL system 2010 V/r Khoi Nguyen
I have an earlier version of this. Always used to think subs were for "boom ... boom ... boom" but the Kenwood did a really excellent job of making my car audio sound more like my home audio (perhaps better) in filling out the entire spectrum of sound. Wound up being the single biggest improvement I made (see sig block for the rest). Probably won't fit nicely in the cubby but the nice thing about these is they can go just about anywhere, still sound good and are easily moved if need be. (Mine took up less than a quarter of the cargo tray in my G2.)
Khoi - Be patient. Learn the terminology AND the technology. Do a little research. Very quickly I came up with this : 2 Way Vs. 3 Way Car Speakers - Autos.com On that same site is other info that may help you BEFORE something weird happens. There are 100's of sites out there dedicated to aftermarket stereos in cars.
I'm already way behind on production (work a regular day job and have kids), but is this what you are looking for? Gen 3 Prius right Subwoofer Enclosure
mgb4tim - you do very nice work, nice! always been a fan of the MG (esp the B-GT), Austin Healys, TR's, etc how big is the speaker in the s'woofer?
Mgb4tim Am I correct that location is above the 12v battery? how easy to remove it? what size of SUB is for that? do you need separate AMP for this SUB? V/r Khoi Nguyen
