agreed, they probably won't cover it unless it's a failure which isn't likely. but by the time you feel the range is substantially reduced, and that won't likely be for a long time, you can purchase a remanufactured pack or upgrade to something better if available. the rest of the car will be fine. on the other hand, if this concerns you, you don't have to plug in right away, if you have to go in an emergency, it drives like a prius and you're getting 50-60 mpg's, not too shabby!

The only time the battery has a problem is if the car is plugging fully charged in high summer heat. I'd guess anything below 88F and the battery is just fine plugging in. Since the Doc is in maryland., if the garage he/she parks in in underground, whch is pretty common, it is unlikely to get extreamly hot so even in July/august its probably going to be fine. Age will more or less normal.

The car is charged in a climate controlled garage that used to be a sales office. It has both heating and air conditioning, which only helps battery performance.

I would also add I keep it charged hundred percent because I never know when I'm have to go to the hospital. Because I go often enough at unusual times of the day/night both during the week and weekend it should help to offset the idea that it's charged hundred percent without use
