I am wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem on their Prius v? I bought my new 2012 Prius v in Feb. of 2012. I just noticed last week that below the drivers door on there is a large area of what looks to be defective paint...my car is black so we see beneath is grey plastic. This is very disturbing. It truly looks like defective paint and I do not want the spot to get larger. I am also concerned that my SUPER friendly (lol) dealership will not do anything about it. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? And, shouldn't something like this be covered by warranty? Any help would be appreciated!
Your car is under warranty I would take it in and get it fixed. I have a few scratches on my v but I think my kids did it with their bikes or someone in the parking lot scratched it.
pics? there is a thread on defective paint under the plug in. toyota took care of it. start with your dealer.
If you can provide some pics of the defect it would help us, but paint is covered under warranty so that won't be an issue. How the dealer fixes it is! Will they replace the door, send it to a body shop for professional repainting, or hit it with a spray can of touch up paint like Dodge did with a brand new car I bought 15 years ago!
I have been questioning for a while if the pearl blue paint on my 2013 Prius V is defective. I have owned many vehicles but this one has tones of scratches... way too many. In fact, I put two soft plastic strips (they just slip on the side of the door) on my driver and passenger doors to keep the doors from bumping and nicking other cars in our tight common garage. Well I moved them down a half inch and the blue paint came right off!!!!!!!!!! It's crazy! And it is such a pretty vehicle, what a shame no wonder the repair folks in the Manhattan Toyota on 11th ave "forgot" to check my car for body work estimate last time I asked them to!!! Probably hoping the warranty runs out. I did purchase an extended warranty. I am an older female and they must have seen me coming! Thanks to this chat group I will pursue this further.
Paint is probably not covered by the warranty but you need to start making loud noises at the dealership, followed up with complaints to Toyota corporate.
