OK, here’s my new Prius story, and I think it’s a good one… A rainy and stormy southern California day had a “classic silver†lining when we picked up our 2006 Silver package 8 today from Norwalk Toyota (Kevin and Rick, contact info below) in southern California. I certainly recommend Norwalk if you are looking in this area. It was a great experience from start to end. AAA discount below MSRP! I primarily worked with Kevin, who was pleasant to deal with by phone and e-mail. I was offered (and happily accepted) to move up on the list when buyers in front of me delayed their purchase. There was no attempt to tack on any add-ons, including the extended warranty. Kevin stated he would add any options I requested, but he’d never to try to push anything. The dealership paperwork was handled quickly and efficiently. I asked for, and received, the completed Pre-Delivery Service Check Sheet. Rick spent well over an hour with us going over all of the Prius specifics. It was an extra challenge today due to the weather, we ended up parked in the service bay to find a dry place! Again, I recommend Norwalk Toyota if you are in the southern California market. Congratulations !!! On both the car and the dealer. Could you elaborate a bit on the AAA discount below MSRP?
I am a AAA member too. How did you go about getting the discount through AAA? I have never heard of it around here. Is it only within your State Club?
Hmmm, I guess there are too many "got my new Prius" posts to generate many responses... I'm at a little over 100 miles. I started out the first day with a cumulative 38 mpg, two trips to work and back I'm up to 42 mpg. The best mileage is in the 405 carpool lane, some five minute averages are over 70 mpg. fd
This site has been down for quite a while and not many people have found out that it is online again. Congratulations. Man, I am jealous. Gonna be a while before I can get mine.
I would think all of the AAA clubs have some sort of vehicle buying service. Check online or give then a call and see what they say. In my case, the response was the AAA program didn't include the Prius. They did recommend a dealer, though, for other Toyata vehicles, who wanted a $3000 markup for the Prius! I started calling other dealers, and found Norwalk offered a AAA discount. Why AAA didn't give me a list of all of the area dealers they work with is annoying. I plan to call and complain. fd
Congratulations on your new Prius! When mine comes in (Longo Toyota), I'll make sure to ask my guy about any AAA discount, just in case.
It's worth a try. The Rancho Santa Margarita dealer, owned by the same company as Longo (Penske) has a AAA office on their premises! But, they never offered an AAA discount, and AAA didn't tell me if they were affiliated. fd
