After what seem like years of waiting and confusions and screwups ...( actually been 2 months) my prius c is now "on sea" any idea how long it takes the boat to get across the pacific?
Took mine 6 weeks, on the boat. Another week once it landed. do your self a favor and don't look at weather in the Pacific like i did... Big storms+life time of bad luck=high stress. Its great you getting the car you want not the one they have. Good luck
Here is a link to an article in the NYT about the boats that bring the cars over from Japan. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/15/automobiles/around-the-world-with-5500-cars.html?pagewanted=all I was advised that once it arrives it will be in port a couple of days and then be put on a train. If you can find out when it arrives in Port from the dealer you can ask that it be "hot loaded" once it gets off the train. The story is that because it is ordered and has a buyer waiting on it, they can request that it be one of the first ones put on the hauler to the dealerships. Otherwise it might sit at the train hub a bit. I tried it and it seemed to work.
Mine is on the boat too..Whoohooo!!!! I went to the dealership June 25th and they took my order of the Prius C3 in Summer Rain Metallic with SR & AW. I got the call on 7/21 from the dealer saying his boss flagged one for me coming into Newark port on the 7th and the dealership will have it a week from then so we are looking at the 14th or 15th. I'm in NJ, not sure if yours is on the same boat or port drop as mine, but I can't be any happier. I'm counting down the days!!!
i have an aug 31 delivery date to the dealer does that mean i will be able to get the car on the 31st?
I called the dealer on the 13th and left a message just asking if it was on schedule for the week. He called me back and said according to Toyota tracking is was due in that day. Sure enough he called me at 6:30 letting me know it had arrived and by 7:45 I was dropped off there and low and behold there is sat in all its Summer Rain glory. The dealership was great, and the whole process moved rather quickly. The dealership closed at 9, but my dealer sat with me in the car for over 20 minutes showing me how to work the navigation, radio, lights and wipers. I couldn't be happier. I drove the car around town Monday night and after work yesterday and didn't even use a notch on the fuel tank. I love my car!!!
It is a great little car and a great color! My wife and I took ours out last night. We live in a rural area and just tooled around looking at the farms. We got 70.8 MPG.
Usually they have a window of when it might arrive and once it gets there the service dept will need it for a couple of hours to get it ready to go. Mine came in at 3pm on a Sat but I had to wait until Monday afternoon to get it because the service dept closed at noon on Sat.
My SRM Three is supposed to be at the dealer between the 15th and the 20th of August. Given that it is already the 17th, my dealer said probably won't arrive until the 20th since the car carrier drivers don't deliver on Saturdays. I noticed that someone else said they got theirs on a Saturday (BGGirl) so I guess there's still a little hope that it will magically appear tomorrow??
Yes, mine came in on the truck on Saturday afternoon and I got to see it but wasn't able to pick it up until Monday because the service dept was open
well the thread title is no longer relevant, because.. my car is on a train! Lol according to the internet it takes 4 days for a freight train to go from vancouver to toronto. toronto is an hour away from me driving maybe il have it before the 31st?
