Hello, Been lurking on this board for couple year, but this week bought PiP basic. Searched forum, but could not find answers , can some one answer please. 1. For a first time Prius driver, I feel the dash board has too much info, especially while driving in the night . I would like of there is a way to disable everything except for 'Speedometer' number displayed ?, or selectively disable majority but not the Speedometer reading. 2. Now that I have tried comparing volt vs leaf vs PiP, I am tempted to see if there is an easy 'add-on' Li-Ion Battery pack, which can piggy-back on top of the PiP Traction battery to improve EV milage. thanks
This week I was investigating companies that do battery upgrades on older Prius models in the hopes of finding a company that was making a battery upgrade for the 2012 PiP. While I love my PiP, I do have range envy over the Chevy Volt. Thirteen miles goes pretty quickly! I sent an email to Plug-in Supply, not expecting to really hear anything positive. To my surprise here is the response from Robb Protheroe, President of Plug-in Supply, Inc.: "We are working on a system for your car now. We will have something in 2 months. Regards Robb" This offers some interesting possibilities. What do others out there think of this? Read more: http://priuschat.com/threads/plug-in-supply-taking-on-the-pip.113097/#ixzz25AhBSBiD
actually, there is another thread on this. plug in supply has a 4kwh/20 mile add on kit for $6500. plus install. decent per mile price. as far as disabling the dash display, sorry, no idea. can you give us some feedback on volt and leaf and why you chose pip? thanks!
I'm not sure exactly how the Base trim works, but on the Advanced, when you turn on cruise control, it puts a fairly empty screen relating to cruise control. I find it a waste of space, but perhaps it works for mostly disabling the MID (Multi-Information Display).
