Folks can link their non-smartphone txt to their twitter account, but agree that txt is more common than twitter. Just trying to find you a no-cost two way path. Google Voice supports two-way txt messaging but it looks like they have some arbitrary throttle on sent texts.
This is very interesting. Too bad entune does not have any such capabilities that I know of. While it seems everyone has settled with manually recording this data, I really hope Toyota wise up and add an API or a web service that can access this information. That would be cool.
The Advanced PiP comes with 3 years of Entune and Safety Connect. But obviously, they don't advertise the protocol used by the Safety Connect phone in the car.
Thanks, but what fractions of PiP sold are base and how many are advanced? If you can see the data in a a web brower then its easy to Reverse engineering the cals and build a poor-persons API.
That's not true. I just had my 5K maintenance done and my trip meters were not reset. Resetting the maintenance reminder uses the MPH/km/h button which is independent of resetting Trip (which uses the Trip button according to the Owner's Manual pg. 432).
The tricky part is that you don't see the actual protocol to the car. The Entune app connects to a server, which either returns cached information to the app, or first calls the phone in the car to refresh its cache before returning the info to the app. So the best you could do is pretend to be the Entune application. This would involve figuring out its authentication protocol.
It might be tricky, but it's also been done. The GreenCharge app on iOS is able to get the battery status from the Prius Plug-in.
