Please tell me that my 2007 Level 5 has automatic headlamps that come on when it gets dark? I noticed tonight that if I had the headlamp switch set to off, they didnt come on when it was dark. Yet, I notice a twilight sensor on the left side of the dashboard, up by the windshield. What gives?
The switch has to be on auto headlights. If not all is normal as you have to turn on lights manually! H
If you turn on the head lights and never turn them off: 1) they will come on when the car becomes READY 2) they will go off when you close the driver's side door after the car is off. If you routinely leave the car without opening the driver's side door, this is a bad plan.
Well, thats interesting. But I was thinking that they would be automatic..i.e. go on when it gets dark, turn off when its bright, without any intervention by me. The owners manual shows an "auto" setting on the stalk, yet mine doesnt have that. Im guessing my level 5 doesnt get the auto headlights. Bummer, I havent owned a car in 15 years without automatic headlights...lol.
We may differ on what Auto means, They automatically come on when you start the car, they autocratically turn off when you leave the car. They are already on when it rains, they are already on when it gets dark. Other drivers have a chance to see you at a distance even if your Prius is road colored, as so many are.
Those are DRL. I don't believe US cars have that feature as well. I guess you did not luck out PriusGuy32. To bad it is a good option to have, H
I found a great writeup on the site on installing an aftermarket unit to make the headlamps truly automatic. I plan on doing that (hope it doesnt mess with the HID's).
