humming sound from my Prius 2012 Model II

    Hello

    I just got my Prius in August. The car makes a humming sound when I accelerate and break. Is this normal? Its driving me nuts!

    welcome! it's hard to judge a sound like that by description. can you make an audio/video? or perhaps go back to dealer and drive another or have service manager ride with you and listen. i hear no hum in my car, but some might tell you it's normal.

    Probably one of two things:
    a) The inverter
    b) The noisemaker

    if it goes away above 15mph, it's not the noisemaker.
