I feel that the lack of lumbar support in the Base PIP is a real negative, esp, for folks with long commutes like me. In the last 3-4 weeks I have owned it, I am starting to develop a slight back ache. I am planning to buy after market lumbar support. Are there any specific makes/models you would recommend? Also, are there other things you can do to make the driver seat more comfy?
If you think the lumbar support suck on the PiP - you ought to try long drives in the Gen II - notoriously hideous That said, lumbar support is a totally personal thing. What works for one, will kill someone else. Your best bet is to simpy give the tons of different goodies a try. I use a little blow up cushion - while my wife has a different style mesh support. Good luck!
Yep, you are just going to have to experiment. The good news, or the bad news depending on how you want to look at it, is that there indeed are a lot of products and options on the market. I've seen relatively decent mesh back lumbar supports in The Dollar Tree...to the seat cushions that vibrate and massage... But what addition may or may not work for you? Experimentation is all you can really do.
I got mine two weeks ago and was driving a Jeep Wrangler before and my back was hurting a bit at first. I just turned the seat heaters on and now my back is used to the position of the seat and no problems.
I guess this means you cant buy it off the internet since you need to try a bunch of them first. What stores sell these? Auto parts stores? Would target or a place like bed, bath & beyond have it?
I have a McKenzie Lumbar Roll for lumbar support. I have multiple herniated discs, and rely on this roll whenever I am sitting anywhere (it really helps). McKenzie literally wrote the book (highly recommend it) on treating bad backs, and my physical therapist recommended this product as well. Comes with a strap, so I guess you could tie it around the seat if you want to keep it in the car.
I have this one (link below), that I got at Dollar Tree. It works really well for me. I have one in my car and another in my computer chair. Dollar Tree - Mesh Back Supports customer reviews - product reviews - read top consumer ratings I went to auto part stores looking to go all out on a good one, but got directed to the Dollar store by the cashier.
