I am now the owner of a Sea Pearl Green 2012 Prius 4... am learning the Prius language (still don't get the Prii thing but it doesn't affect me - one owner, one Prius... ). This was my first new car purchase, EVER, on my own (and I am rapidly approaching the half century mark) and was happy with the dealership, was happy with my options, especially when a Prius v (I don't like the lines and I don't need the room) and a plug in (modifying my house was not an option for refueling) were shown to me but I know what I wanted (a far cry from the dealership that tried to sell me a standard Tercel back in the Middle Ages during the time when folks in the TV commercials jumped for joy - I did that signature jump behind the salesman's back as the Tercel was so not the car for me and my then hubby could not look at me without laughing...)... tried to buy a used 4Runner back in the late eighties and THAT was a disaster (did not buy the car) but my brother has been a Tacoma owner for years, my mom drove her wonderful Rav4 for years until someone hit her and totalled it last year... and my son had an 18 year old Toyota Corolla that I drove after he moved out west and then we sold it to a friend's daughter who is still driving it... and it was definitely not the sappy, if not terrifying (especially the creepy flower commercial) Prius commercials that said "go forward and buy" - I truly liked the overall design and the mileage projections. So, almost a month into ownership, I am going through "key withdrawal" due to smart keys (but I'm getting better), getting used to a car that shuts off at stoplights (had to think for a minute, "Damn, did this thing just stall?!"), dealing with the onboard GPS ("oh, God, start pressing buttons and make it stop!" and then a CD was ejected at my boyfriend and I) and being thankful for a fan that kicked on on a hot day when I came back to the car after a 3 mile run... sat down and some climate control thing kicked on...they did not tell me the Prius came with "hot flash detectors"... and best of all, laughing my *** off after refueling twice since I have owned it. My other vehicle is a Ford F250 Super Duty diesel... while the Prius does just about everything except fetch my slippers, the Ford is the go-to-girl for hauling horses. Yup, drank the Kool Aid and all humor aside I love my Prius and am singing its virtues to friends...
Well welcome aboard and enjoy the ride! Be sure to read the entire Owner's Manual if you have not.... lots of good info.
welcome to PC. Enjoy your new "Toy"ota. Yep, all of here at PC have drank the kool aide. Some of us more than others.
Welcome to PC!~ Best Of Luck with Your New Ride. You have joined the many who put their families first. Pay for all this gas to Look Macho at the expense of my family or Get a Prius and spend the money on vacation or entertainment for the kids. You chose wisely my friend!!
Thanks!!!! I have nothing to "prove" driving my diesel truck... other than my smug thought that "mine's bigger..." in most cases.... It is my horse vehicle and will save the Prius when it snows as I truly need 4 wheel drive in bad weather. My kids are grown and on their own, I am divorced and have to economize... it just made sense to me and I happen to like the lines of the hatchback and the Sea Pearl Green just hit a chord for me... Driving the Prius now allows me more money for my other vices....
I love it - got some doubters on the PiP threads as I considered a PiP for a moment but some things scared me from it... I have no regrets with my choice... after all, I have to drive it and I am so loving it.
I was partial to the earlier Prius green so when the Sea Pearl Green was an option, I had to go for it and it matched my love of the sea. No regrets... even though some friends said it is "such a chick color." My car, my rules. End of story. If they have an opinion they can go get their own Prius and decide on their own color!
I find the lighter colors (Except White) Really Hide the dirt. And My Prius & Yours Are The Truly Green Prius's. (Wink)
64.9.... refueling and signing up to play the Fuelly game... no one told me I'd have this much fun in a Prius...
