"Portable player connected" and "mobile phone connected" messages & backup camera

I like my 2012 Prius Four w/solar roof package a lot, but there's one thing that really annoys me and I was wondering if it bothers other people, or if anyone has found a fix.

Most of the time when I start my car, within a few seconds I switch into reverse and I'm ready to back out of my garage or a parking space, but then the LCD display shows "portable player connected" (for my iPod) for like 5 seconds, then a short break, then "mobile phone connected" for another 5 seconds. While those messages are on the screen, because the backup camera is angles so far down towards the ground, the messages cover up pretty much my whole view of what is directly behind me. So if I'm in a situation where I want to check the camera (I know sometimes it's better to just look back), I have to sit there and wait for the stupid messages to appear and then disappear before I start moving. It's a trivial thing, but I find it annoying.

 

Ah, I was able to turn the off, thanks! Usually I'm pretty good about reading the manual and playing with all of the controls, but, I missed that setting.
