When we bought our 2004 Highlander we received the hard sell from the Financial person for both an extended warranty and service agreement. We went for both (dumb). After researching the recommended service for our driving conditions we canceled the service agreement and got our money back. I suppose the extended warranty made us feel warm and fuzzy for the 7 years it covered but we never needed it. They wouldn't try so hard to sell it if they weren't making money on it. The financial person even gets a commission, that tells you something. Having read this posting on coverage of the electronics, Beware of ECP and electronics | PriusChat my decision to not get the extended warranty for our new Prius Three is reinforced. The financial person wasn't happy when I shut him down before he could even start his sales pitch. What is your opinion on extended warranties for the 2012 Prius?
I would have thought this was already beat to death. I completely agree with what you said. If the extended warranty is going to save the buyer money then why do you want to buy the car in the first place?
