I just had the maintenance done for 10K miles. It's basically an oil change. The total came out to $83.89. $50 for labor. Is is just me or is that pretty pricey for a simple oil change? Granted, Toyotacare takes care of it for 2 years or 25K miles. My question to you Prius C owners is, would you a) keep going to the dealers to have your oils changed or b) diy or c) go to a local garage? I'm thinking of B or C.
That is absurd, but then so is the $2-3k Toyotacare package they were trying to sell me, worth only $500. At Firestone, I can have an oil change (24.99), free rotation and free alignment(Lifetime Alignment cost less than $180) for $24.99 every 5k miles...or 10k miles. I imagine the wait at Toyota was also a while... Just wait till they will tell you that you need to change your air filter or something simple. Thats were they will try to get you to buy Toyota OEM parts only.
Already did this myself at 5k. Oil change And filter is an easy DIY. Takes about 10 minutes max to do. I follow in between the severe schedule and regular maintenance schedule on my cars to take them to over 400k miles without issues.
Dealer is always expensive. They have good Master Mechanics with factory Training if you ever have a serious problem.
